M.S. in Management - Healthcare Management Concentration

The goal of this rigorous program in Healthcare Management is to provide students with a solid foundation in both management and public health in an integrated, structured curriculum that focuses on the U.S. health care system.  In our career-relevant, experiential program, students gain a detailed understanding of management principles as well as developing expertise and management skills in Health Care. The result is a highly skilled business manager who is uniquely prepared to address industry-specific challenges in today’s rapidly changing business environment.

 

This degree program requires 36 credits and consists of six core management courses and six concentration courses.  It is designed to provide professionals with the necessary healthcare management skills required to lead in today’s environment.

 

Prerequisite: 4+1 students must have approval from the program coordinator prior to enrolling in courses.

 

Program Outcomes

 

Students completing this program will be able to:

 

  •  Analyze, compare, and understand State and Federal Health Care Policy and the varied and interconnected aspects of the U.S. health care delivery system
  •  Identify, analyze, and compare theories and practices of ethics and professionalism in the health care setting
  •  Summarize and apply microeconomic theory to interpret the operation of health care markets as well as to analyze the competitive environment of the health care industry
  •  Evaluate methods of strategic planning, decision-making, and evaluation in health care facility administration
  •  Examine the fundamental concepts and activities regarding information technology as applied to health care
  •  Examine the various types of Managed Care Organizations and compare governance, executive roles, marketing procedures and value

 

Minimum Grade Requirement

 

A minimum grade of C is required in all graduate courses.
