Law and Society Minor

Return to Degree Programs Return to: Degree Programs

A minor comprises a sequence of courses that focus on a particular area of study different from, and secondary to, the major. The Curriculum Committee requires that minors include 18-21 credits of required and elective courses that collectively provide coverage of, and understanding in, the subject area.

Note: Any course selected for a minor cannot be a program requirement in the student’s major.  All College Curriculum requirements and Open Electives can count towards a minor.  In the event of duplication, the student must select an appropriate substitution for the same course by completing a “Curriculum Petition to Waive or Substitute a Requirement” form in consultation with the Law and Society Program Coordinator and the dean of the school offering the minor.  Students should work closely with their advisor to determine if they will able to meet the requirements of both the major and the minor degree program.

Students must complete six courses (18 credits) for the Law and Society Minor. A minimum grade of C- or higher is required in program-specific courses (courses with the designation of LG) in this minor. Prerequisites of all courses can be found in the Course Descriptions.
