BA 326 - Business, Society and the Environment

3 credits How a company interacts with the environment is a strategic variable for many corporations, especially multinational entities (MNE’s) and those who supply them. Strategic variables are associated with issues that convey competitive advantage, including image, reputation, product quality, compliance, ability to attract and retain talent, risk management and cost reduction, and climate change. This course will teach students how to integrate consideration of environmental and social elements into business processes in an effort to improve a company’s competitive advantage. The course will revolve around the topic of sustainability, often referred to as the Triple Bottom Line. It will help answer questions such as: What is sustainability? Why do organizations attempt to manage stakeholders, supply chain and climate change risk, and how do they do so? Prerequisite: EN 102.
